I grew up in "small town" Saskatchewan, attending elementary school and high school with pretty much the same twelve people that I graduated with. Yeah… TWELVE. The upside of that ( and there are actually upsides) are that most of us are still friends to this day and feel like an old shoe when in each others' presence. Once leaving home, I worked in Saskatoon as a medical lab technologist for 21 years ( some of that time was spent in Kelowna where I now reside). I enjoyed my work, but always was looking for more, for different, for something.
My hubby and I decided to move to warmer weather and new surroundings brought new opportunities and challenges. We added to our family and have two great kids. Our youngest child has special needs and eventually I gave up working in the medical field, allowing me to be at home for our kids. I began to get back into hobbies I enjoyed and had missed, including photography, drawing and painting, and music. I love a good chat and latte with a friend, and continuing a healthy lifestyle feels great.
My life, and all of our lives, are a journey and are full of lessons. As I've gotten older, I have to come to realize the importance of finding happiness within. I am learning more each day about my strengths, my shortcomings and about how to live a full life. I am trying to learn not to worry so much, to take more chances, and to dream bigger. I am trying to be more positive, a better role model for my daughter, a good wife, daughter, sister and friend. When I am on my deathbed , these things will have mattered, I hope.
This blog shares a journey we are all on. I hope you find something here to keep you coming back.
